Description
Photograph of an unidentified house in Redondo Beach being pummeled by breaking surf, ca.1953. The two-story house is shown to the right, a person's silhouette visible through the bay window at center. In the front, a brick wall is pictured, marred by the weather. Along the sidewalk, a streak of stones has been thrown across the ground, assumedly piling from the breakwater. A large crashing spray of water can be seen to the left. The original breakwater was built in 1937 and replaced from 1957 to 1958. Storm in Redondo Beach circa 1953, showing damage to homes and sidewalk, looking north. Original breakwater was built in 1937 and replaced in 1957-58.
