Located near the Gal Vihara, the shape of the pond, built of stone and in the form of a full-blown lotus flower, gives it the name, Lotus Pond. It has a diameter of 7.54 meters and is split into five concentric layers of eight petals gradually diminishing to 1.63 meters. It has a single course of stones except at the top, which has three. It is surrounded by brickwork. Instead of a natural convex the petal rings have been shaped into a concave form. It is considered a work of great beauty.
