Description
Spirit of Life Award presented to Rod Diridon at the testimonial establishing a research fund in his name at the City of Hope Pilot Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute. San Jose Hyatt, San Jose, CA. September 26, 1985. Features sculpture of two adults holding a young child or baby aloft between them. "Russin" is engraved on the leg of the figure on the right. [Note: According to City of Hope's website, the award is modeled after the original bronze statue crafted by artist Robert Russin that sat atop the fountain at the entrance to City of Hope's original Los Angeles campus. The statue celebrates the concept of family and reflects City of Hope's longstanding commitment to holistic and compassionate care.]
