Description
Two women are depicted just outside a concert room. In the room, a man plays the piano while another man sings. The visible audience is entirely female. Draped on the back of the chair closest to the door is an ermine fur garment. The woman on the left stands and shows the other woman a bouquet of pink flowers she holds in her right hand. Her hair is done up into two poufs, one covering each ear and accented with pink flowers, with a coronet of braids in the back. Her dress is white with an off the shoulder neckline and short sleeves. The dress has bows down the center of the bodice. There are double layers with scalloped edges around the sleeves, the front of the bodice over the shoulders, an overskirt, and many rows on the hem of the dress. The multiple layering gives the effect of fish scales. Her accessories includes white gloves and gold bracelets. The woman on the right is sitting in a red upholstered armchair and leans toward the first woman. Her hair is pulled back smoothly and is adorned with pink ribbon and a white plume. Her dress is off the shoulder with short puffed sleeves and a white center section. The dress is pale blue satin with white brocade on the sleeves and the center of the dress. There are narrow blue ribbons horizontally across the white, with pink buttons or small flowers centered on each ribbon. The center section is edged with narrow pink trim. Her accessories include two gold bracelets and a gold fan she holds in her right hand. There are candle sconces on the walls, and an elaborate carved side table with a vase on it behind the women. The floor is wooden.
