The 25th Academy Awards was held Thursday, March 19, 1953, at the RKO Pantages in Hollywood, California. It was the very first Academy Awards ceremony to be broadcast on television and was carried by the National Broadcasting Company (NBC).
Photograph caption dated March 20, 1953 reads, "Jane Wyman, a former Oscar winner, presents award for best two-reel short subjects, which was won by Walt Disney for his film, 'Water Birds'." Actor Ray Milland is on seen on the right.
