Description
Photograph of the painting "Nero Singing" by Batte, [s.d.]. The young emperor of Rome is shown on a pedestal to the left, waving his hand in front of him while his entourage waits in apparent boredom: Two heralds have let their trumpets lean against the wall farther in the foreground while they chat like the Roman gentlement to their left. To the right, below the pedestal, a throng of Roman spectators appears rapt with attention.
