Photograph of the cemetery at the Santa Monica Soldiers' Home in Sawtelle decorated for Memorial Day, ca.1905. The graves in the foreground are covered with flowers. Behind then is a formation of soldiers those in the center and on the left are holding rifles, while those on the right comprise a band. All of them are being inspected by officers. In the background behind these soldiers, civilians can be seen walking through more graves, and some are paying their respects by placing flowers down. There are trees in the background in the middle, as well as one on the right side that has a bicycle leaning against its trunk.
