Description
Connie and John begin the interview discussing the context of the book and how it is more character-oriented, rather than plot-oriented, before discussing the story’s setting in an exclusive San Francisco enclave among Irish Catholics. They proceed to talk about the degree to which specific aspects of the book pull from John’s life before returning to the narrative and the racial facets of the story, and how the work is a mystery and not a novel. Connie and John then discuss how John begins his writing projects and how often he rewrites his work. Connie closes the interview requesting an autograph for her copy of the book.
