Description
Steps (with plain guardstones) to the inner courtyard and central shrine area with a platform. The hospital was a large area and it is reported that there were circa 2000 monks at Mihintalē, who would have needed health care. The ground plan indicates that there were separate cells in rows at one end of which was a large trough, which was used as a medicinal bath.
