A group of men stand with their right hand over their heart at ARENA (Nationalist Republican Alliance) headquarters in San Salvador during an event. In 1981, major Roberto D'Aubuisson founded ARENA as an extreme right-wing political party. In 1993 the United Nations Truth Commission for El Salvador established that D'Aubuisson gave the order to assassinate Archbishop Óscar Arnulfo Romero and human rights campaigner. The extreme-right Salvadoran soldier was also a leader of the death squads put in place to eliminate leftist opposition.
