Description
Murrel James Evans and his family, the first to occupy one of the "back to the land" farm homes of the federal government's small farm homestead project at El Monte, are shown moving their belongings into their new house on August 26, 1935. The government is setting them up in a nice home on an acre of ground, hoping to give them a new start in life and make them self-supporting soon. It's the Evans' first real home.
