Description
Typed label on folder: "Douglas Perham supervises the loading of a multi cavity klystron into his trailor. Photo taken in Varian assoc. parking lot 1955-1965." The klystron would later go on display at Perham's New Almaden Museum. Returning to California in 1929, Doug Perham re-established himself as an electronics craftsman specializing in fine machine work for local electronics firms, including Heintz & Kaufman, Dalmo Victor, Varian Associates and Ampex. In 1948, he rented his San Carlos workshop to the Varians until their move to Stanford Industrial Park in 1954. This VA-842 klystron, used for ballistic missile tracking, was a gift of Varian Associates to Perham's New Almaden museum, and is currently a part of the Perham Collection of Early Electronics.
