Photograph of Dana Point and the bluffs at Capistrano, California, ca.1900. Ocean water sloshes around a small tidal rock formation in the foreground. As described in Dana's book, Two Years Before the Mast, hides were brought from the mission and thrown over the bluff and then loaded into the ship.
