Mysteriously raised to the top of the flagpole on the Los Angeles City Hall lawn, this Communist flag, bearing the words "Down with Fascism--Free Torgler," was hauled down and confiscated by police. The words are believed to refer to Ernest Torgler, German Communist, tried for the burning of the Reichstag building. Detective Lieut. Stanley L. Anderson is shown with the flag. Photograph dated December 20, 1933.
