The demonstration was part of the New Products and Business Opportunity Show of 1962 held at the Statler-Hilton Hotel, Los Angeles...During the four days in the shelter, the family lived on food contained in a survival kit manufactured by a Van Nuys corporation partly owned by Rade. The kit...contained various items ranging from first aid supplies to salt tablets, but the star attraction was Dex-A-Meal, a pure concentrate of dextrose, maltose and higher sugars." Pictured are Douglas and Grace Rade with Patsy, 3, and Stephen, 11, in a simulated fallout shelter answering questions from Tom Chamberlain, Van Nuys.
