Photograph caption dated October 16, 1964 reads "The newly chartered Arad Chapter of Pioneer Women will conduct its first annual auction-bazaar from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion Hall, 12117 Moorpark Ave., North Hollywood. Gathering items for the event are, from left, Mmes. Sidney Shechtman, Pacoima, president; Harry Lichtman, Burbank, and Max Horwitz, Van Nuys, ways and means chairman. The auction, from 2 to 6 p.m., will be conducted by Samson Wilson, who has volunteered his services. Clothing, household items, bric-a-brac of all kinds and toys will be offered for sale. A highlight will be a number of weekends to local resorts going to the highest bidders. The kitchen will offer cold and hot drinks, hot dogs and cakes at reasonable prices. Proceeds will go the Pioneer Women's child Rescue and Social Service program in Israel."
