Description
Photograph of a view of Los Angeles, looking south on Main Street at Spring Street, showing Temple Block, ca.1885. Horse-drawn carts are parked to either side of the unpaved street, down which a streetcar is making its way. The three-story Temple Block building is pictured at center, displaying a sign for Jacoby Brothers "Clothing House". The clock tower extending from the roof reads approximately one o'clock. There is a fork in the road at the block, moving off to the left where other commercial buildings can be seen, as well as in the distance down Spring Street. Other legible signs include: "Confectionary [...]", "Wheler Wilson", "Restaurant", "County Bank", "Books [...]" and "Wholesale".
