A large poster stands amidst children's books as it advertises "Book Week" from November 14 to 20, 1948. Among the picture books displayed are "Thidwick, the big-hearted moose" by Dr. Seuss; "Billy's picture" by H. A. Rey; "Nils" by Ingri & Edgar Parin d'Aulaire. The Spanish style Van Nuys Branch Library, located at 14555 W. Sylvan Street, was built in 1927 and served the community until April 1964. The branch was designed by the architectural firm, Allison & Allison.
