The Vanowen Park Branch Library was later replaced by Valley Plaza Branch Library at the same location. Photograph article dated April 7, 1962 partially reads, "When officials of the Los Angeles City Library Commission swing open the doors of the new Vanowen Park Branch library in North Hollywood Wednesday, an excited 10-year-old girl will be on hand to greet them. She'll be the first patron for the new facility when it is dedicated to public use at 7:30 p.m. Her happy situation was created by a simple letter to city Librarian Harold Hamill. The letter, in which Karen Brown, North Hollywood, expressed a thrill at having a library in her neighborhood, was such a novelty that Hamill is going to grant the little girl's wish. Karen said she wished she could be the first one in the new $209,000 building at 12311 Vanowen St." Pictured are Karen Brown (foreground) and her little sister.
