Description
Exterior view of Hattem's Market at 4277 So. Western Ave., on December 17, 1929, the second anniversary of the opening of the market. A number of cars are in the street in front. The large store was open 24 hours and was a drive-in market. The Southwest Wave newspaper coined the word "supermarket" in describing its opening.
