Bolshoi Ballet is one of the principal ballet companies of Russia and amongst the oldest and greatest ballet companies of the world, having begun as a dancing school for the Moscow Orphanage in 1773. Photograph caption dated August 15, 1987 reads, "Bolshoi dancers Maria Bilova [sic] and Aleksei Lasarev take their bows following the second performance in Los Angeles of "The Golden Age."
