Description
Photograph of a drawing by Edward Vischer depicting the Mission San Antonio de Padua, June 26, 1873. Several children are pictured standing along a low stone grid that appears to the foundation for a building while a dirt path stretches out for the portion of crumbling wall to the left towards the mission in the distance. The mission church stands with its portico entrance to the right, a long barn-style chapel, from the left of which a long adobe patio extends towards more ruined walls. Mountains are visible in the background. The text below the image reads: "Church, buildings, and ruins of the Mission San Antonio de Padua, in Monterey C'ty", "Sk. June 26, 1878", "Francn. Father Borotco Amkriz, an Acolito of the Order", and "© Vischer".
Image acquired? by C.C. Pierce around 1925.
