Photograph of students boarding a line of Los Angeles City School District buses, ca.1940. A line of adolescent students cuts perpendicularly across a sidewalk towards a waiting bus at right. The bus itself is one in a long line which spans part of the street. Photoprint reads: "Where public transportation facilities do not meet the needs of the Los Angeles schools the students are transported in buses owned by the district, operated independently of the city. Above is a view of this activity".
