At the building's roof, a large marquee reads "Hotel Van Nuys. Main Street". To the left, a horse-drawn cart can be seen parked along the street, while a second can be seen on the perpendicular street to the right. A building in the left background features a sign which reads "W. Salem Furniture Carpets and Draperies".
