“Loading our baggage for embarkation.” Street scene with soldiers loading baggage onto a cart with an eight horse team. The soldiers are preparing for transportation on the SS Ingoma to Dar es Salaam in German East Africa, including the photographer Lt. A C Irvine, RAMC. ❧ The image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in East Africa. During this time he would meet Dr John W Arthur which in turn would lead to his missionary work at Chogoria in Kenya.
