Description
Shown at the Grant Union High School swimming pool in 1936 are a few Sacramento Interwar luminaries, including, right to left, Grant’s first principal William Rutherford; Sacramento City Councilman and future Sacramento City Mayor Tom Monk; native Dutchman, wrestling promoter, restaurateur, and real estate developer Peter “Doc” Visser; and Eric Hebbe. The pool had opened up just a few years earlier, hosting its first open swim meet in August 1934.
