Photograph caption dated May 1, 1965 reads, "Surprise pickets - Nearly 100 pickets appeared at the dedication ceremonies of a new Palmdale fire station yesterday to protest moonlighting by county fire fighters. The pickets singled out Fire Capt. Leslie Foote, for his off-duty house building. County Supervisor Warren M. Dorn has ordered an immediate investigation." This is Los Angeles County Fire Department #37, located at 38318 E 9th Street.
