Text written under photo: "View of the Western Addition." View looking northeast from vicinity of Haight and Laguna near the Protestant Orphanage Asylum. Blocks of Victorian residences seen. Jefferson Square in right middle ground; Nob Hill behind. The St. Paulus Lutheran Church can be seen under construction, dating the photo to 1894.
