Photograph caption dated January 7, 1964 reads, "Battalion Chief Harry Pitts checks a gas leak Monday in North Hollywood on truck carrying 500 gallons of nitrogen. Driver Frank Gosney, 42, La Puente, told firemen he heard gas escaping as he was driving from Pacoima to Los Angeles. The gas was first believed to be oxygen, which is highly flammable. Firemen closed Lankershim Boulevard from Whipple Street to Moorpark Street to traffic for 35 minutes last night while the leak was corrected. The truck then continued on its way."
