Description
Photograph of the mole protecting the Zeebrugge Canal and an artillery piece overlooking the mole, ca.1915. The large concrete and brick mole curves from the bottom right corner to the left side of the image before curving back to the right. A large gun emplacement is in the foreground at right, and the artillery piece is aimed out towards the ocean. A sandy beach is visible behind the cannon at right, and several large ships can be seen in the harbor created by the mole. The mole was a target of a British raid in 1918.
