Photograph caption dated August 23, 1956 reads "This 40-foot length of pipe weighs two tons. As crane lowers pipe into trench, two workers adjust angle of descent by their strategic positions at each end of pipe. Small trench and other water and electric conduits which cross trench diagonally leave no margin for error." The article partially reads "A new multi-million dollar pipe-line will soon connect the San Fernando Valley directly to Texas natural gas fields.
