Description
“You’ve doubtless seen pictures of Chinese village streets but maybe none before with me in one! This one looks much cleaner in the picture. Yes that is a pig. The horrid sway back kind they have out here. I can’t imagine where the kiddies all were. There are usually a raft of them! I.K.F. From Abbie G. Sanderson Thai Jong (via Swatow) [Shantou] China 1919.” Abbie G. Sanderson stands in a doorway leading to a narrow stone Chinese street containing a pig, chicken, and dog.
