Description
The front exterior of Scotty's Castle in Death Valley. Mountains sit behind. Formerly called Death Valley Ranch, it was built, but never completed, in the 1920s. Flamboyant cowboy, storyteller, Walter Scott, convinced Chicago millionaire Albert Johnson to invest in his (fraudulent) gold mine in the Death Valley area. Johnson actually spent time vacationing and recuperating from illness at the property, which is now a museum.
