The man closer to the contra soldier places his hand on the head of the small child leaning on him. The woman in the back wears a dark violet dress and necklace. She extends her arm across the entrance. The soldier is a member of the Nicaraguan Democratic Force (FDN in Spanish), whose members are informally known as "Contras."
