Photograph caption dated August 19, 1963 reads, "Archaeologists sift load of soil near Hansen Dam. Joel Grossman, left, Gene Sterud search for Indian artifacts." Lead by a group of Gabrielino Indians from that area, 20 volunteers uncovered about 2,000 artifacts in a week of digging.
