Image of a circus chariot featuring "The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe" pulled by a team of horses on a dirt road with rolling hills in background; with a panel of small portraits of P.T. Barnum, J.A. Bailey and J.L. Hutchinson at left.
Probable date and artist supplied by cataloger based on similar artist's initials found in image referenced in Spangenberg, Amazing American Circus Poster, page 238 and general circus history; P.T. Barnum's Greatest Show on Earth and Howes' Great London Circus and Sanger's Royal British Menagerie (nicknamed the Barnum & London Circus) held shows from 1881 until 1887. "No. 13"--text, upper right. "The Strobridge Lithographing Co. Cincinnati & New York"--text, lower left. "R"--text, signed on stone, lower left.
