Description
Dedication ceremony on May 1, 1965, at the Marin County Board of Supervisors Chambers, for the Clem Miller Civil Liberties and Civil Rights Memorial Collection which was donated to the Civic Center branch of the Marin County Free Library. Pictured are County Librarian Virginia Keating, with Clem Miller's daughters: Marian, Katherine, Claire, Abigail, and Amey. With the girls is Sali Lieberman, chairman of the dedication, and chairman of the Marin County American Civil Liberties Union, which was founded by Clem Miller. Miller was a First District Congressman from 1958 until his death in a plane crash near Eureka, California, in 1962. A conservationist, Miller was one of the individuals responsible for the legislation creating the Point Reyes National Seashore.
