A three-quarters length seated studio portrait of Union Brevet Brigadier General Joseph Barr Kiddoo (1840-1880) of the 22nd Colored Infantry Regiment, turned slightly to the right. Kiddoo is seated in a heavy wooden chair with his hat resting on his right leg. Kiddoo has a neatly trimmed mustache, and his hair is brushed straight back. The bugle on his cap indicates that he is an infantry officer, the braid on his coat sleeves indicate he is an officer, and the eagles on his shoulders seem to indicate that he was a colonel at the time this photograph was taken. "O.H. Willard's Galleries, 1206 Chestnut St. ; No. 4594 Phila." is stamped in tan on the verso. "4594" has been written in pencil. There is a blue and white two cent stamp with a portrait of George Washington on the verso, across which "Jun. 7 1865" has been stamped. Title from verso.
