Description
The survey was initiated by the Redevelopment Agency of Sacramento in May 1951, organized and completed by Harold Wise from July to September 1951, and a report created by Wise and received by the City Planning Commission in 1953. The report compiles statistics of business and business conditions in the West End including types of businesses, gross volume of sales and analysis, businesses characteristics by race of the owners, and rents. The report highlights that the businesses were supported by the local population and that it was a highly integrated interracial area, with most businesses serving customers of any race.
