Barr and managed by Joseph Thieben, the business enjoyed a banner time, winning in several areas, according to the 1895 “Transactions of the California State Agricultural Society”: best display of table and bar glassware, best display of queensware, best display of ornamental statuary, best Japanese ware, and best display of lamps.
