View of Westlake Park (now MacArthur Park). The lake sank gradually lower as it was being partially drained to make way for a dirt fill which will extend across the lake and connect the ends of Wilshire Boulevard east and west of the park. Photo shows the water receding in the north end of the lake, the dotted line indicating the normal water line. The water level will be reduced about 7 feet, laying bare and drying the floor of the north half of the lake, where the fill roadway will cross. Sufficient water will remain in the south end for fish and water fowl to survive. Photo dated: May 19, 1933.
