Description
Used in the Exhibit: Play by Play - A Century of L.A. Sports Photography, 1889-1989
The Rams drafted Eric Dickerson in 1983, and in just his second year the begoggled, long-striding Dickerson broke O.J. Simpson's single-season rushing record with 2,105 yards. In 1987 a contract dispute soured relations between Dickerson and the Rams, and the NFL's premiere running back was dealt to the Indianapolis Colts in a trade that offensive lineman Jackie Slater called "one of the darkest days in NFL history." Photo dated: June 18, 1986.
