Image of automobiles parked along a street with a crowd surrounding a construction site and steam shovel during the dedication of Beverly Boulevard (now Sunset Boulevard) in Pacific Palisades, California.
This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). Title and date devised by cataloger based on similar image in the Santa Monica Public Library Image Archives, "Crowd near a steam shovel at the construction site of Beverly Blvd. (now Sunset Blvd.) in Pacific Palisades, Calif., 1925" and the history of the event (see "Opening of Boulevard Celebrated," Los Angeles Times, August 19, 1925, page A3: "The opening of Beverly Boulevard ... was celebrated yesterday at the Pacific Palisades under the auspices of the Pacific Palisades Association ... The celebration was featured by the last shovelful of earth being removed by a mogul engine at Chautauqua and Beverly Boulevards").
