Description
Image of the smiling face of American actor Carrie Swain bursting through torn paper; the poster presumably advertises the comedic melodrama "Cad, the Tomboy" written by Leonard Grover.
Probable date based on newspaper advertisement with same slogan as poster: "Ah! There! Carrie Swain! in Cad! The Tomboy!" (Daily Alta California, 9 July 1886, page 1); Swain performed in the play from 1882 until around 1886. "Vic Arnold"--text, artist's signature, in stone. "A.S.
