"Hankow walls placarded, March 1927. One of a set of eight loose prints of the Chinese Revolution 1911 to 1924 or various anti Japanese, anti-British or anti-communist disturbances or demonstrations between 1924 and 1927. Edward Rowlands was the son of the LMS missionary, Thomas Rowlands, and born in Madagascar. He served in China from 1907 to 1946 and was interned there with his wife from 1943 to 1945.
