View eastward of the main surface facilities of the Wide Awake Mine, Sulphur Creek Mining District, Colusa County. The building on the left housed the furnace and condensers for processing the mercury ore. The linear structure running up the slope to a short tower (stack) on the ridge probably housed a pipe that carried poisonous vapors from the furnace building to vent through the stack on the ridge. The building at right center with the tall structure and stack is the shaft house. It encloses the head frame and hoisting works for the mine shaft.
