Description
Photograph of sheep crossing the road at the Summit near the Emigrant Trail in Placer County, ca.1930. A drove of about two thousand sheep walk across the street in the foreground and continue along the right side into the distance. Three automobiles are backed up at center where the sheep stop them from continuing down the street into the right foreground. A jagged rock wall stands on the left side of the road with electrical poles on its top. Tall evergreen trees continue up the mountain in the background. "Summit. Picturesque scene on the old Emigrant Trail of the 1850's. There are about 2,000 sheep in this drove. [s.d.]".
