Description
This self-guided audio tour leads listeners along the modern-day city streets of San Francisco as it describes important landmarks in the history of the Sisters of the Presentation from their arrival in 1854 through 1930. Follow in the footsteps of those early Sisters as they arrived in the harbor near modern-day Pier 39 through the rugged, sandhill settlement that was San Francisco to the Roman Catholic Orphanage, their first residence, near the old Holy Cross Church on Eddy Street. Then move on to the corner of Powell and Lombard streets, the site of their second convent and school. From there travel to North Beach, the site of the Sacred Heart Presentation Convent and School, and eventually out to the intersection of Turk and Masonic where the Sisters relocated following the 1906 earthquake and fires. Vivid descriptions help you see the bustling city streets as the Sisters saw them and bring to life the unique history of San Francisco.
