Photograph caption dated September 20, 1963 reads, "These placard-carrying students were among some 300 who marched five miles from Wrigley Field to the Los Angeles Board of Education Thursday to protest alleged de facto school segregation and to pay tribute to the victims of the Birmingham, Ala., bombings. The students said they stayed away from school to join in the march."
