Photograph article dated July 12, 1961 partially reads, "Albert Zoraster, his straw hat bouncing and his red sports shirt fluttering, ran across the freeway and straightened a rope stretched the width of the pavement. 'The mayor will be here in 10 minutes,' he said excitedly. 'We've got to have enough room for his helicopter to land.' It was 10:40 a.m. Tuesday. The place was a section of freeway crossing the busy Tuxford street and San Fernando road intersection. Los Angeles Mayor Sam W. Yorty was due to help open the new $12.5 million, six-mile stretch of Golden Gate [sic] Freeway connecting Burbank and Lankershim boulevards in Sun Valley." Photograph caption reads, "Yorty, in helicopter, opens Golden State Freeway link Tuesday - Freeman, Brandon, J. A. Stanley, Valley-wide chairman, and Burkhalter, from left, assist."
